These are some of the new fabrics and colours that have got me really excited about the new season.
The lace is a classic design that has been around for a while in black, white and pink but whilst recently working on a 'mother of the groom' outfit I discovered a range of new colours, what is special about the chocolate lace is a slight coppery/rusty hint that is picked out in the high lights of the pattern which just happened to go perfectly with a shade of raw silk that creates a really warm and luxurious feel.
Bringing the concept towards a more bridal ideal, I wanted to lighten the over all feel with creamy shades. As soon as I laid the fabrics together, I received an email about a similar colour combination. This sent my mind off in to an earthy, victorian spiral. This lace is just utterly gorgeous and would work beautifully with the chocolate as well. I can't wait to have some samples made up! In contrast to these natural, earthy tones, my heart jumped when I saw this rich kingfisher blue, it is just so captivating. Now all I have to do is decide which to make up first...
This corset was first inspired by the work and research that went on during my project with Lili-kad photography. Several original victorian corsets came up during the initial stages and a number of ideas were jotted down in my design diary for future reference. One of the concepts that I liked the most was a removable flower corsage and I just love the way that really old corsets look so beautiful, even aged and worn, they have a beauty that new corsets struggle to replicate.
Some of the techniques that I have been working with recently sent my mind back to those quickly scribbled notes.
I spent a few days preparing the main fabric before finally deciding on the trim, I had two that jumped right out at me and begged to be made but this was the closest to my first vision and I can work with the other trim soon.
The corset is fully steel boned through out and the two part eyelets are set in to re enforced double boned channels for support when tight lacing.
I have just had a delivery of amazing new farbics for the new season wedding gowns, they are so gorgeous I can't wait to get charging ahead with the new designs, I will post some pictures as soon as I can but for now, it's on with the custom orders! There's so many exciting things coming together in the studio right now!
It's 8.30 pm on Friday night, the weather here is really quite nasty so I'm more than happy to be bundled up warm and dry on the sofa working on the write up for a favourite custom corset from this summer, I'll post that up as soon as it's finished.
This week has gone so quickly it's almost frightening. It has been a successful week though all the custom orders in the studio look very different now. The first fitting appointment today went really well, 'the mother of the groom' outfit is going to look stunning! I am a little behind on the new stock but it is coming along beautifully, I hope to be listing another new design tomorrow, finally a 28" corset wedding gown.
I have some new material to put up on the website over the weekend and lots more planned for the next few weeks so do keep your eyes peeled and let me know if you have any comments, feel free to scribble them anywhere.
It's 6 am on a Sunday morning, it's cloudy and the sea looks really grey, the perfect day for catching up with website updates. The custom orders are all on schedule, I have ordered in some new fabrics to go in to the next two so those will arrive next week. The new stock is coming on really well too, I'll have some pictures of those on Monday.
I did manage to finish off one of the write ups from this year so I created the page and set it all up last night and posted it. The set up may need a few little tweaks but that is what today is for!
click on the image below to see the new page and read the write up!
It's been slow progress today, I had 243 emails in my inbox this morning, still 13 left to reply too, I'm so sorry if you are still waiting for a response, I'm getting there!
I have just listed two of the new ready to wear wedding dresses. Click on the images to see the product pages with all the information and more pictures.
I have an appointment on Saturday which I am getting really excited
about and some amazing work with custom orders, one piece in particular
that I am really over excited about, I can't wait to be able to show you
all!
As well as the custom orders, I am still working on my ready to wear
designs, the next two pieces are coming along nicely. One is a scoop
neck corset in a deep antique rose satin dupion with ivory lace and
trim...and the loose, off the shoulder sleeves for those of you who have been waiting for
inspiration pictures and theme ideas.
Hi every body!! It's Monday morning, the sun is shining and the birds are singing!!
Last weeks deadlines went like clockwork, more big deadlines this week, all on schedule!
I have received and extremely high number of emails and messages, my apologies for the delays in responding, I am working through them all as I go through today!
Ready to ship stock is very low at the moment due to the level of custom orders I have on the go right now, I have timetabled in extra hours to be able to offer you a wider range of corsets but they tend to sell as quickly as I can make them so do watch this space as I will be making updates as often as possible this week!
I hope you all have a fabulous day and an inspiring week! Susan
